MEET MOON

***FOSTER WITH A VIEW TO ADOPT***

Moon
Backstory: I am a beautiful girl who has not had too much luck finding my forever home. My
first foster home did not work out and my second foster mum worked very hard to get me
to open up before trying to find me my forever home.
Late in 2020 I went out for a trial adoption – my new mum and her grandchildren were great
but things didn’t work out for me because the other cat there bullied me really badly. A
decision to not finalise my adoption was made for my well-being, so unfortunately I am back
in foster care. I am temporarily back with my second foster mum who is trying to get me
back to where I was coping/socially speaking, but there are lots of other cats (and 2 small
children) here and she has returned to work full-time, so this is not a good long-term
environment for me to stay in – I really need a quiet home with a patient human parent
who will be around a lot and can help me find my confidence and give me the forever home
I truly deserve.
Personality: I am a very quiet/shy girl, but I love my wet food and I am not shy in letting you
know that it is dinner time. If you catch me in the right mood (generally in the late
afternoon/evening) I will happily accept pats/rubs from my foster mum. I tend to spend the
majority of the day hiding out under my foster mum’s bed and I am usually curled up in a
ball sleeping on the pillow in the drawer there.
Despite my rough time with the other cat in my attempted adoption home, I have settled
back in ok with the majority of the cats in my foster home – I am now back to accepting
their presence and will let 5 or 6 of them ‘invade’ my personal space without freaking out,
but I do not snuggle or play with them, instead preferring my own company and small doses
of attention from my human!
I used to purr like a champion before the upheaval, so hopefully with time to settle in, I will
slowly return to my curious and affectionate kitty side that was starting to come through
late last year.
I am not a fan of small kids – they are noisy and frighten me – but I have done quite well
with older kids 10+ years old if I am allowed to come to them on my own terms (like when
they are sleeping and I steal my way onto their bed!). Noting my recent experience on a trial
adoption, 9 Lives Cat Rescue thinks that it would be best that I am a ‘foster with a view to
adopt’ kitty, because a trial adoption will not give me enough time to settle and determine if
it is the best situation for me. I need a quite home with no other pets, with 1 or 2 patient
adults who can help me feel comfortable and allow me the opportunity to come out of my
shell whilst loving me unconditionally. Whilst I have not had a problem with older children,
it would be better if I go to a child-free home to avoid any disruption to my feeling of safety
when they have mates over. Short-term foster care will be detrimental to my well-being, as
constant upheaval causes severe stress so please consider this before applying! 

I am not a fan of the very noisy 2 year old human foster brother or 7 month old baby and
would be better suited to a child-free, quiet home. I need to be the only fur-baby in my new
home.
