What is a Foster Carer?
A foster carer is someone who agrees to care for one or more of our rescue cats on a temporary basis until permanent homes are found. When the cat in your care is adopted then you can opt to take on another cat to care for until they too are rehomed.
Any cats you agree to foster for us will be provided for by 9 Lives in the way of food, bowls, bedding, toys, flea/worm treatments and any other medical requirements. The only real cost to you is time and love.

Application

Our team will review your application and arrange a home visit to ensure a perfect match.

We will contact you once we have cats or kittens ready for temporary care.

Welcome your foster cat! You provide the love, we provide the rest.
Foster to Adopt
There are some cats who need time to adjust to their surroundings or who have health issues and are not quite ready for adoption yet. They may be scared or shy and need time to settle. Some need medical treatment such as dental work to make sure they are completely healthy before being adopted.
This is why some cats are placed on foster to adopt. This means you initially foster a cat with the intention of you adopting them in the future.
Full Support
You have the full support and experience of 9 Lives for cats that need more socialisation and medical treatment. We pay for all their vet work and provide you with what you need to care for them.
Commitment
We ask that you commit a minimum of 3 to 6 months of care and have a genuine interest in the cat you select being your forever kitty.
Forever Home
Once the cat is healthy and settled, you have the first priority to officially adopt them and make them a permanent part of your family.
Felines in Need
We have many cats in need of fostering, most of whom are strays. Some are very friendly and have been abandoned, while others require medical care or socialisation to prepare them for rehoming. We have mothers with kittens, kittens on their own, teens, adults, and older cats. Each of them needs a loving and safe home that can meet their unique needs.
